The Electric Vehicle task force has been conducting surveys and research surrounding the viability of the alternative vehicles.  Economic and environmental benefits are being assessed, as the cost for charging the vehicles is extremely low.  Many businesses have already built special sections to their parking lots, and offer free charging of the cars of their customers while they shop or dine.   The EV task force is also prepared to offer financial assistance to those companies wishing to add these parking lot charging centers, and to those people wishing to purchase the cars.  Many of the large companies that use fleets of vehicles are also offered rebates from the government, should they decide to replace all their fleets with electric powered cars and trucks.

The Energy Market Authority was started in April of 2001.  This organization’s task is to create long term and secure production of these green vehicles, and to ensure that the competition and the production is healthy and provides economic gains and benefits.  And furthering the care of the environment, the Public Transit Authority is adding train and bus routes each day.  The traffic in Singapore is a concern for all those living in the city, and these steps will not only cut down on the congestion, but will ensure that Singapore’s environment will reap the benefits.
