Punjab Cinema: Jee Aayan Nu
Punjab is on its way to becoming a very desirable tourist destination, with spectacular natural beauty and stunning architecture. Punjab translates to five waters in Persian, reflecting the rivers that flow through the area, connecting India to its neighbor Pakistan, and adding layers of complexity in culture and history. The archeological finds here reveal that there has been a human presence here for thousands of years. It’s both mysterious and contemporary, making it a splendid place to stay and enjoy a holiday. When you’re making your travel plans for the stay in Punjab, hotels are plentiful here, and we’ve made the searching easier for you. Our hotels are selected as being among the finest the state offers, with a splendid variety of amenities and services offered.
They all have a magnificent sense of hospitality, bringing you into the country with style and grace. There is a lovely mixture of the old and the new here, so that you’ll enjoy the old world graciousness along with the contemporary conveniences to help you maintain your own lifestyle. It’s a great place to get away from it all, and immerse yourself in a new world. Before you come, you might want to immerse yourself in some Punjabi culture, so that your stay here will be more meaningful. It is a rich and complex social fabric, and one that is still very misunderstood. One fine way to start to understand the place is through its films. There have been many movies here, but the most successful film is Jee Aayan Nu.
Jee Aayan Nu was directed by Manmohan Singh, and follows along a similar story line as many other films made in India for the diaspora. It involves cultures in conflict, told through the emotional events of one family. The father and mother move to Canada with their two daughters, where they live for many years, and circumstances bring them back to Punjab. The eldest daughter falls in love with a man here, and through this lens we get to see both Canadian and Punjabi culture come face to face. With romance and humor, there is a great deal of commentary about worlds colliding, and how cultural misunderstandings can also lead to a deeper relationship with the world at large.
