My girl friend wanted to go to New York City this fall and I simply did not think we could afford it. I mean with the expense of travel, hotel room and spending money while there is gets to be a fairly expensive proposition. So I kept trying to get her to want to go somewhere else, but no she was not going to hear it and kept insisting that we could go to New York. I found New York cheap hotel online and was surprised I was able to find us a hotel room for a long weekend this fall that actually fit into our budget.

I have to admit that I found the room and booked it but kept telling my girlfriend we could not afford to go just for the fun of it. She was getting so anxious and insisting that we go to New York City I found it kind of funny. So any way I decided that I would tell her that I had rooms booked for us and we would be going to New york city this fall as she wanted to do.

She was so excited I thought she was going to explode. She was jumping from one subject to another, shopping, Broadway, site seeing, museums and on and on and on she went. I kept reminding her we were only going to be there for a long weekend and I was sure we could not do all the things she was wanting to do in that weekend so she best figure out what is top of the list and we will try and get those things in.

I love to see her so excited about going, I know it is a place she has wanted to go and see for a very long time. I really did not think we would be able to afford to go this year, but I am sure glad it is working out.

Carlie, Jamie and Sara met while they were in college together at California State University Los Angeles. They were all liberal arts majors and happened to take an introduction to cultural studies class together, which is where they met. The quickly found a connection together and almost immediately became a trio of best friends. Before have way through that semester they were meeting before class to have lunch together on a regular basis and by the end of the semester they were each others’ greatest confidants and regular social activities partners.

This was over seven years ago and although Carlie and Jamie went to separate graduate schools and Sara went right to work in a library, they remained extremely close. This was made easier when Jamie moved back to Los Angeles to begin her career in an art gallery. Carlie had finally settled in San Diego, which was not a bad road trip for Jamie and Sara when they had the chance. However, the last time the three of them were together at Carlie’s enjoying a glass of wine on the beach, they decided that the time had finally come for them to visit Goa, India together.

Jamie had originally brought up the idea when they were talking about a collection of art she had heard about from Goa. This was interesting to Carlie because she had been a religious studies major and was particularly interested in Hinduism. And coincidentally, Sara had just finished reading a book about the architecture and temples of Western India. They decided then that someday they would take a vacation together and stay in one of the five star hotels Goa and spend their days at the beach. Well, now that the time has arrived they still intended to spend a nice portion of their time on the beach, though they also wanted to visit some of the historic temples for which Goa was famous. The definitely wanted to visit the Shanta Durga Temple of Kavlem as well as the Mangueshi Temple located in Priol.

With its amazing history, and amazing contemporary cultural scene, spending time in London puts you in a very enviable position.  There are as many incredible performances to see here right now as there were in its highest peaks of culture, and perhaps more.  Some of the world’s most interesting and elaborate entertainments come here, and many of them are native to the city.  It certainly a fair share of talented residents, and there’s a magic here that places it up with the top cities in the world for tourist destinations.  There are many splendid memories waiting for you here in London.  Hotel accommodations are plentiful here, and ours are selected to take the guesswork out for you, so you can be assured you’re staying at a place that meets your style and budget.

Your hotel will be waiting for you, at the end of every day, so that you’ll have a place to sleep in splendor and comfort, and with a hospitality that can only be found in England.  Each morning you’ll awake, refreshed and ready for the next round of adventures.  There are many splendid possibilities for adventure here, and with distinctive neighborhoods and shopping districts, some very exciting side adventures to have along the way.  While you’re having adventures, take a look at some of the art along the way.  One of London’s most iconic contributions to the world of art are Gilbert & George.

You almost have to refer to the people as a thing, because these artists have made their own images into a body of art.  They met in art school in 1967, and claim they started to talk because George was the only one who could understand Gilbert’s Italian-inflected English.  Whether that’s true or not is beside the point, because it’s a good story, and a sweet story, and it sounds like something that would happen in art.  Gilbert & George have been a couple ever since then, and they make appearances as themselves in their own work.  Many people think of them as performance artists, and they call themselves living sculptures.  It’s very interesting work, and often disturbing, and almost always uncannily funny.  Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics claim that they get their look, with the plain suits and every(wo)man appearance, off of this art duo that turned into an underground phenomenon.

Personal spas are very popular in this part of the world, and have actually been popular in nearly every part of the world, in some shape or form.  For centuries, people have been reaping the benefits of soaking in hot water for periods of time.  In some cultures, it’s a very elaborate ritual, and in others, it’s simply a fun thing to do.  You’ll enjoy your hottub, whether it’s for social gatherings or for the personal health benefits, and it will bring smiles to the faces of those closest to you.  Hottubs have a way of bringing people together, and it’s a certain primal pleasure to soak together.

The combination of heat, massage from the jets, and buoyancy on the cells in the body, is a spectacular combination, and it relieves stress almost instantly, but works deeper on the body the longer you stay in it.  One of the more wonderful things about the tub, is that you will start to react to the heat more quickly, and the relaxation can get deeper, and even more pleasant.   The body likes to be in water that’s hotter than itself.  It’s interesting when you consider that we’re more comfortable being in water that’s either a little cooler than 98.6 degrees for swimming, and a little hotter for relaxing.

The body likes water, period.  Some schools of healing suggest that drinking water at warmer temperatures is good for the health.  Drinking hot water has the effect of cooling the body, oddly enough.  It’s the same idea as eating hot peppers in warm climates, to make the body sweat to meet the temperature outside, and making it cooler.  There are some who will argue that it doesn’t really matter if the drinking water is hot or cold, because it will rehydrate either way.  These things are worth looking into, or at least daydreaming about, while you’re relaxing in your new hottub.

Sydney Australia is truly a beautiful city and is full of great arts and performance venues and an incredible cultural scene. This seemed like the perfect place for Tammy to celebrate after she found out that her first novel was going to be published. Tammy had written an historic mystery novel that was based on some of the ancient mystic practices. In an entertainment and reading climate that was dominated by books like the Da Vinci Code series and Harry Potter, she thought the story she had been researching for years would fit in perfectly.

Tammy was right, and while her book was more historical than suspenseful, the mysteries of some of the ancient druid practices and politics were definitely captivating. And it was just yesterday that she received the word that her publisher was going take the book. Meanwhile, in her excitement, Tammy knew she wanted to celebrate in accommodations Sydney Australia, but she didn’t know who she would take with her.

She had been dating a man named Emilio for three months and while they got along really well and always had a great time together, she just felt inviting him on the trip with her might indicate more of a commitment than she intended it to. Meanwhile, she considered taking her best friend Martha with her, though she truly did prefer it to be a combined celebration and romantic trip. After giving it more thought, she realized that Emilio and Martha got along extremely well and she could take both of them to create the best possible trip. This ended up working out well and while Martha and Tammy went to the Ballet, Emilio spent the evening in a beach nightclub. All three of them attended a production at the Sydney Opera House and Tammy and Emilio enjoyed a romantic evening that included a production at the Theatre Royal. Overall, it was the perfect way for her to celebrate her friends and her book.

Home hot tubs are not simply for entertainment and recreational purposes anymore. While in previous decades they have been considered luxury items and only the rich or upper middle class was able to afford them. This has changed a great deal in recent years at tremendous advancements in hot tub technology have been made, and also there are increasing numbers of designs and features that contribute to a wide range of prices and options. These elements mean that businesses like choosehottubsdirect have an ever greater and more diverse population of customers.

In addition to the their much higher rates of availability, the uses and recognized functions of hot tubs has also increased. As it was previously mentioned, hot tubs are not used only for entertainment and recreation. They are also used for personal well being aspects and contribute to healthy lifestyles. They have also been used in various medical therapeutic practices.

One of the most common well being practices associated with hot tub use muscle relaxation and meditative habits. It is a nice option to wake up in the morning and enjoy a quality backyard yoga or tai chi session before relaxing into a dip in the your private hot tub. It is becoming highly recognized and accepted that yoga contributes to an overall sense of stability and calm and people who practice it regularly generally remain more calm and respond less with less stress during the day’s events. In a chaotic and unpredictable world, it is increasingly more important to turn one’s own home into their private sanctuary and have the necessary features to recover and reinvigorate oneself to face the challenges of the day. Hot tubs are becoming more popular for this reason, as well as others. Their increasing affordability makes it even easier to incorporate them into a healthy lifestyle and personal sanctuary

Punjab is on its way to becoming a very desirable tourist destination, with spectacular natural beauty and stunning architecture.  Punjab translates to five waters in Persian, reflecting the rivers that flow through the area, connecting India to its neighbor Pakistan, and adding layers of complexity in culture and history.  The archeological finds here reveal that there has been a human presence here for thousands of years.  It’s both mysterious and contemporary, making it a splendid place to stay and enjoy a holiday.  When you’re making your travel plans for the stay in Punjab, hotels are plentiful here, and we’ve made the searching easier for you.  Our hotels are selected as being among the finest the state offers, with a splendid variety of amenities and services offered.

They all have a magnificent sense of hospitality, bringing you into the country with style and grace. There is a lovely mixture of the old and the new here, so that you’ll enjoy the old world graciousness along with the contemporary conveniences to help you maintain your own lifestyle. It’s a great place to get away from it all, and immerse yourself in a new world.  Before you come, you might want to immerse yourself in some Punjabi culture, so that your stay here will be more meaningful.  It is a rich and complex social fabric, and one that is still very misunderstood.  One fine way to start to understand the place is through its films.  There have been many movies here, but the most successful film is Jee Aayan Nu.

Jee Aayan Nu was directed by Manmohan Singh, and follows along a similar story line as many other films made in India for the diaspora.  It involves cultures in conflict, told through the emotional events of one family.  The father and mother move to Canada with their two daughters, where they live for many years, and circumstances bring them back to Punjab.  The eldest daughter falls in love with a man here, and through this lens we get to see both Canadian and Punjabi culture come face to face.  With romance and humor, there is a great deal of commentary about worlds colliding, and how cultural misunderstandings can also lead to a deeper relationship with the world at large.

One the historically rich areas, located close to Midtown district containing many of the Manhattan business, hotels and restaurants is the form stomping grounds for the most unsavory and downright characters that color the past history of New York.  This is Hell’s Kitchen and I stayed here for a few nights with my friend Robert.  Robert has lived all over the city, and each time I visit, I encounter a different aspect and a different vibe than before.  Due to Robert’s bohemian nature, I learn a bit more each time I go.

At one time the home to many of the Irish-Americans and the members of the various, notorious Five Point gangs, this is now becoming quite a funky and unique neighborhood.  There are boutique stores for dogs on every corner it seems, many different choices of restaurants offering food from different ethnic communities, along with a vast array of interesting and varied shops.  When one visits Hell’s Kitchen one really must take a walk done Eighth Avenue.

This is close to the Port Authority and is one of the busiest streets in the neighborhood.  Again, the variety of shops and merchants is overwhelming, from discount stores for hardware and electronic supplies, to gift shops and clothing boutiques.  The area is also known to be one of the best places in the city to find small, out of the way–a bit hole in the wall in nature, restaurants and bistros.  For some friends of mine who tend to take “food tour vacations” this would be the perfect destination.

The stretch of 46th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues is known as Restaurant Row.  It reminded me a lot of the stretch of Division Street, between the Avenues of Western and Damen in Chicago.  Just one restaurant after another.  And as is the same with both of these areas in different cities in the United States, there was a time not long ago where walking the streets at night would have been dangerous.  This is not long so for Division Street, and it is no longer so for this area of Hell’s Kitchen.  It’s a wonderful place to get a true feel for all that is the city of Manhattan.

I have been wanting to visit the National Museum of the American Indian since it opened a few years ago. And finally go to go! We book rooms at luxury hotels DC near the Mall. That way we would be within walking distance of the Smithsonian museums and monuments in the down town Washington DC area.

I as excited to see the new museum. It has be said to be a new experience in museum going with a very different plan and way of showing their collection. Of course I was intrigued and have been wanting to go for a very long time.

Now that I have been there it lives up to all it’s expectations and more. The building sits on the Mall near the end where the capitol is. Constructed from slabs of rock and placed in a way that the walls are not straight from side to side or up and down. It is a very interesting look. The building slopes out over your head as you walk around it and it undulates closer and further from the side walk all the way around. This is to give the feel and effect of walking next to canyon walls and it works. Around the base of the building are gardens that flow one into another. The gardens are to represent the different habitats that exist on the North American continent.

Once circling the building we came to the entrance. once inside your in a large space that is open to the ceiling some 6 stories above. There is a series of strategically places prisms on a wall facing the sun which cast rainbows across this enormous lobby. In the center of the lobby are long boats and canoes an some other larger artifacts on display.

The galleries of the museum are accessed by taking the escalators to different levels of the museum and there over looking the lobby are displays of Indian artifacts. What is really different about this museum is how the items are displayed. There were cases showing bead work, arrow heads and other artifacts. Below those display cases are a series of drawers that the museum visitor can open to see more items like the ones on display above. As the drawers were opened lights came on and when you released the handle of the drawer it closed automatically. I really was impressed with this aspect of the museum. I am glad I finally made it here.

Dubai’s rise as a world-class tourist destination has been very fast, and the city’s been able to keep up stylishly with the hunger for culture and fun.  With its brilliant combination of beaches and nightlife, it’s the perfect place for a luxury hotel.  Dubai offers many splendid choices for attractions for the savviest of travelers, and there’s always something new here, as the city continues to evolve.  Its curious, fantastic, and graceful architecture always offer a sense of visual delight as you tour Dubai, and the cultural scenes add to the local flavor.  Our hotels aim to compliment the magnificent design, and offer a wonderful place for you to call home while you’re here, enjoying your stay in perfect leisure.  The accommodations are prepared to serve business and leisure travelers, and there are hosts of conveniences and extra touches to make your stay even more sweet.

It’s a pleasure to wake up in the gorgeous hotel rooms, surrounded by reminders that you are an honored guest in this fabulous place.  After a delicious meal prepared by top chefs, and perhaps spending some time exercising in the state of the art facilities, you’ll be ready to set off and see for yourself what Dubai has to offer.  Its cultural mix is fairly heady, as the recent changes in the creative arts scene have started to attract artists from all over the world.  To add to the evolving fabric of Dubai, BiBi, an artist from Lagos, Nigeria, recently moved to Dubai to show her work here, and the reception has been fascinating and rather splendid.

She’s connected to other networks of African artists working in Dubai, including an art producing agency called AfricHood Entertainment, whose goals are very similar to hers.  Her work, mostly painting, has dealt with some very traditional West African themes, including the myth of the divine twins, nature as a source of all the good things in life, and cultural identities in a shifting time.  BiBi’s work has started to take on Arabic influences from her experiences in living in a new place, and this is interestingly intertwined with traditional African art themes as well.  West African art and philosophy has been deeply influenced by the cultures that make up the region, and that includes traditional African spiritual systems, along with European and Arabic cosmologies as well.  So this is a kind of reverse ethnography, and it will be fascinating to see how African art changes as is begins to take root in the Dubai cityscape.

There are many reasons why Dubai is so magnetic these days.  The stunning, and baffling, combination of deep desert and fantastic beaches, the magnificent and sometimes exuberant architecture, and the electric night life, all contribute to the contemporary mystique.  You’ll find yourself wondering what to do next, and the choices are always exciting or simply delightfully relaxing.  Lying in the sun, or taking in the latest new installation art exhibit, or visiting some of the largest shopping malls in the world, can all be done, and even on the same day.  To refresh from the excitement, you’ll enjoy staying at a 4 star hotel.  Dubai has a brilliant selection of these.

Our hotels are specially selected to offer you the best of the best, so that your days here will always end and begin in splendid hospitality.  Design and decor are at a premium here, where some of the sharpest eyes in Dubai help to cover every little detail, so you are always aware that art can enter into every corner and make life more pleasant.  Art in Dubai is really stunning these days.  Artists from all over the world are presenting new work, and there are many fairs and festivals outside of the multiple possibilities for seeing contemporary art in the galleries in town.  One of the really exciting exhibitions this past spring was Desperately Seeking Paradise, featuring work by 11 artists from Pakistan.

Among the artists featured here was Huma Mulji.  This young artist has been turning heads all over the globe lately, with her large taxidermy sculptures.  These works are enormously challenging, and enormously fun, but ask crucial questions about the nature of cultural identity and permanence in an age where the digital seems to hold sway over nature.  Born in Karachi and living in Lahore, she represents a new generation of artists who cross disciplines with the ease of a shapeshifter, where the movement in between genres and styles is part of the message in the work.  Her complex and compelling images are a splendid contribution to the cultural landscape here.

It was a hot and sunny in Phoenix we were getting pretty tired of the heat. By the end of July we sure get tired of what seems like the endlessness of the heat, hot nights and even hotter days. We have just gone through to weeks with temperatures over 110 degrees and it looks like there is no end in sight. On a whim we decided it was time for a road trip to get out of this heat for a little while. My friend got on the net and a few minutes latter proclaimed we had reservations at hotel San Francisco starting this Tuesday and ending Sunday morning. Well it was Monday afternoon in Phoenix, we were going to have to hit the road early in the morning to make it to San Francisco late Tuesday. Time to prepare.

I headed to the grocery store first to get some road trip foods, chips, nuts, trail mixes, fruits and some cookies along with plenty of water should do the trick. Then home to pack a suit case and load up the car. Hopefully we would be on the road by 5 AM at the latest. It is an eleven and a half hour drive from here so an early start is the only way we will get there Tuesday.

Tuesday morning came and we were able to make it out the door and on to the road on time. Driving from here to Los Angeles is a drive I am familiar with having done it many times over the years. I was really looking forward to the drive north through California’s Central Valley. The valley begins north of Los Angeles and stretches to Sacramento. In the Central Valley much of the countries produce is grown. I was not disappointed with the drive. The Central Valley is beautiful. We passed archers and archers of fields growing any and all fruits, nuts and vegetables anyone could imagine. An amazing sight to see the large growing operations, even if only passing by on the road.

We made the drive without incident, leaving Phoenix at 5 AM and arriving in San Francisco at our hotel at 7 PM. Not bad time and we are out of the heat looking forward to the next few days

We went all out and caught a taxi to Ubud in the center of the island of Bali. We felt like the taxi driver came straight from New York City, he dodged mopeds, cars and the apparently not surprising wild dogs all the while driving about a foot  away from the vehicles in front of us. We just looked at the center pieces that make for a roundabout as a visual distraction from our horrendous and chaotic taxi ride. We made it to one of the Bali boutique hotels with which we had reservations in one piece, and that journey wiped away any jet lag we might be experiencing.

Our hotel room, which we considered one of the best hotels around, has a balcony that over looked a garden. Our room was so clean and sparkling, we were so happy with just how well the hotel took pride in cleanliness. The price was irresistible and the staff was extremely helpful and friendly. We felt welcome everywhere we went in the hotel; it felt like we were the only guest staying the night with all the undivided attention.

We hire a driver for the day, we decided that was the best way to see a majority of the sights around the island. Our hotel concierge was most helpful in finding us the perfect driver, it was his brother!  We hired him on the spot as our chauffeur and guide for the following day, because today, we made sure to just relax around the hotel’s pool and bar, or maybe take a walk, we wanted to take it easy and not feel stressed. After relaxing a bit pool side and with a few beers in us, we decided to walk down Ubud’s main street not for from our hotel. We reached Monkey Forest, a forest full of wild monkeys, macaques to be accurate. That was really fun and amusing, we could’ve stayed there all day just watching all the monkey’s and the baby monkeys, but we were growing tired and headed back to our hotel room. When we got to our room, we just crashed for the night. We were hoping we had enough energy to go out in the evening, but that will have to wait for tomorrow.
