The crush of humanity out side my 4 star hotels Delhi is not for anyone, especially the claustrophobic,or faint of heart. The masses of people can be very overwhelming for those not use to it, and in all reality if you are from outside Asia you probably do not experience this where you live. The numbers of people that beg and are vying for getting your attention is daunting every step tat you take beings you into the encounter of another person wanting something from you. However the history, particularly the spiritual history can make it all worth while if your able to get connected to them. The tradition of spiritually goes back many centuries BCE, before the common era, and were well developed long before the advent of Christianity. Jainism, Hinduism and Buddhism are the main three traditions. All stress non violence in the world and focus on self understanding for spiritual development. None of these look to an external god for answers to personal issues and questions. Instead practitioners look inside for the true nature of reality. Through meditation, repetition of mantras with malas , pilgrimage and more methods are employed to get in touch with the devin within. The deep history has lead to many dichotomy in India. great poverty and much enlightenment. Many learned gurus are there who spend much of their time in meditation. Their realization that material things are not necessary for existence. That these material things hold us to a material worlds and hinder our development into spiritual beings. Here in India are temples everywhere. They celebrate, commemorate and mark important spots, times and events in the spiritual developments in this country. The temple are a great way to connect with the spirituality of an area. There you may encounter a guru, teacher, and have an nteresting interchange if your open to it.
