For luxury hotels, Chennai holds a marvelous spot in India, both geographically and culturally. This city, one of India’s largest, is a wonderful vacation spot, and travelers here will be delighted by the wide range of amenities in the luxurious settings. Food and entertainment are in large supply here, and there are many opportunities to make the most of the city. There are rich cultural pageants, sacred ceremonies, and innovative music and dance shows, as well as theatrical events. The city is rather distinguished for its music and dance in particular.
However, with last year’s successful film, Slum Dog Millionaire , the film industry here suddenly found its way to the international scene. There is a long tradition offilm-making here, as well as a longer tradition of live theatre. But the film houses have been popular for the past 100 years, and the recent successes have helped to bring this history to wider public attention.
The largest film companies in Chennai are located in Kodambakkan province, giving the nickname Kollywood to the industry here . One of the most visible film actors from here is leading lady Mallika Sherawat. Her deep character study and sense of humor make her one of the most cast-able actors in the global film industry today. Her choices for roles are often controversial and extremely interesting, and this is in part due to her background in philosophy. She’s used this edge to gain a role in Jackie Chan’s the Myth. Her participation in the project also brought her to Cannes, where her impact on the film scene was just beginning to be felt on a global scale. She has graced the covers of many fashion and glamour magazines, so her presence is not just in films, but they are her main love these days. With such film credits as Welcome, Guru, Unveiled,Darna Zaroori Hai , and The Myth, her lush film career is still in the early stages, and there is much more to come from this rising star of world cinema.
